Not Sleeping Well

I don’t know if it’s still jet lag or just the fact that the bed here is SO crappy but I haven’t slept more then 5 hours at a clip since I have been here and it’s starting to take it’s toll. Took some melotonin but probably will take some more. The kicker is that I hit the road running on Friday the 24th and my first day off is the 6th of November. 13 gigs in a row, and then I have 2 more days off the entire month of November! I better get some damn sleep!

Anyway, things are going well here in EU but it’s really a bit like someone who works on the North Slope, for my Alaskan friends. The analogy is that of going away to make the money then being able to come home and not work. It’s better in my case that I’m free to hang out in a European City etc but then it’s expensive to live here. Either way, I still wish there was work for me at home because I wouldn’t spend so much time having to be away in EU. So if it’s not clear, this is not a vacation like you would take over here in Europe. I’m working seriously hard over here. Much harder then I do back home as far as raw hours and numbers of gigs and to make it worth while I have to stay minimum of 3 months other wise I could probably come for 2, then go home for one and I mean BARELY break even and have to live broke over here and at home so it’s not worth it. If I come for 3 months and get a month on a ship, then it’s worth it..Or I come and stay for 3-6 months but it’s tough because my standard of living here in the Flat is far below my nice cozy existence at home and that will grate on you after a few months. Either way, I’ve met some nice people over here and hopefully made some good friends as well. My plan is to stay in Copenhagen through the end of the year then I’m slated to play a cruise ship out of Stockholm Sweden for the month of January. At that point I want to come home, visit my family in FL and chill at home for a few months before heading back to  Europe May or June. Anyway, more to follow.
